innkeepers Amy and Hap Jordan spent years conceiving,
planning, and designing the Stone Hill Inn. "We wanted
to create and operate our own 'dream inn,' " notes Amy.
" And at the same time, provide experiences for our
guests that would fulfill their dreams as well."
Locating in Stowe, Vermont was a natural choice. The
village of Stowe, perhaps New England's best-known mountain
resort destination, has been hosting visitors since the
1790s. Stowe is famed for its quintessential New England
atmosphere, warm hospitality, and unmatched variety of
outdoor activities. "Stowe is very much like the grand
European mountain resorts," says Amy. "Rich in
tradition, surrounded by magnificent scenery, with countless
diversions in both summer and winter, and offering fall
foliage viewing famous all over the world."
The inn's unique character grew from Amy and Hap's
conviction that couples expect and deserve very special
accommodations and amenities. Each Stone Hill Inn guest room
accommodates only two people. The nine lavishly decorated
rooms offer king sized beds, sitting areas, two-sided
fireplaces, hypo-allergenic down duvets, Egyptian cotton
towels, and two-person Jacuzzi tubs. Every room is
individually decorated with Vermont-inspired color schemes,
appointments, furnishings, and views. "Some guests have
definite favorites, while others want to try a different
room each time they revisit the inn," notes Amy.
The Stone Hill Inn's common areas are just as
thoughtfully executed and rewarding. The Billiard Room's
massive stone fireplace echoes nearby Mt. Mansfield's
towering splendor. Expansive windows flood the adjacent
Breakfast Room with sunlight, enriching every guest's
morning with visions of Vermont's pure natural beauty. Only
steps away are the Stone Hill Inn's famed summer perennial
gardens and waterfall, surrounded by wooded walking trails
scented with aromas of pine and spruce.
