STONE HILL INN SUMMER STORY IDEAS
WHAT'S THE ANGLE HERE?
In fact, Stowe is an angler's dream. Flowing from the Green Mountains are a collection of rivers, streams, and creeks harboring rainbow, brook, and brown trout. Add to these some of the East's best fly fishing instructors, plus master craftsmen fashioning exquisite handmade rods and flies, and you've got the makings of one very fishy vacation.
SOME VERY AIRY ADVENTURES
Stowe is beautiful enough from the ground, but taking to the air provides an entirely different-and even more spectacular-perspective. Options abound. You can hop into the front of a sailplane and ride the thermals with Stowe Soaring's skilled pilots. You can charter a hot air balloon and just follow the breezes. Then there's the Mt. Mansfield Gondola Skyride, which will loft you almost to the summit of Vermont's highest peak. After so much air time, it will be a pleasure to sink into one of the Stone Hill Inn's luxurious Jacuzzi tubs.
DO SWEAT IT!
Stowe is the place for those who like their outdoors mixed with a healthy dose of exercise. Runners, bikers, and Rollerbladers love the famed Stowe Recreation Path, which meanders from the village for about six miles along the Little River. Swimmers churn out laps at Stowe's natatorium, The Swimming Hole. And hikers are treated to the East's only extended above-timberline hiking (except for Mt. Washington) on the Mt. Mansfield Massif. After burning off so many calories, it's important to replace them with the Stone Hill Inn's irresistible afternoon hors d'oeuvres: walnut chicken nuggets with plum sauce, shrimp and black bean caviar, bruschetta with summer vegetables…
EXTREME SHOPPING
Stowe is home to the one extreme sport everybody loves. There are more artists, artisans, and craftspeople per square foot in Stowe than anywhere else in Vermont. Handblown glass. Handmade chocolates. Art-quality handmade furniture. Twenty area antique shops. Artful jewelry. Colorful country quilts. Oil paintings. Col d'Lizard outdoor apparel. If it can be made by hand, you can shop for it in Stowe!
Stowe is Vermont's premier four-season resort town, and the Stone Hill Inn is Stowe's most luxurious inn. Highly recommended by both The New York Times and the Boston Globe, the Stone Hill Inn was chosen one of the top 12 B&B's in North America by Forbes.com and is a member of the Select Registry - Distinguished Inns of North America.
