First of all

March’s average high temperature is 28 degrees – perfect for “Spring” skiing (Spring and 28 degrees? We’re strong in Vermont)!

Cross Countrying skiing in Stowe Vermont while staying at Stone Hill Inn

Snow?

March’s average snowfall in Stowe per week is 6.7 inches (see more historical stats). So, it’s full speed ahead for winter sports. The ski resort is open until mid-April with reduced rates. But there is much more taking place in Stowe during March!

Snow in March in Stowe is “The Best Time for a Vermont Ski Vacation” – but don’t take our word for it! Read these great TripAdvisor reviews from local Vermonters:

"Early to mid-March is typically the best skiing of the season. Some of the largest storms in history fall within that time (although that's not predictable), and as noted the mountain is at its prime and the days are longer and warmer than Jan/Feb. It’s in between most of the public school vacations in the Northeast (which are in Feb and April) so mid-week provides no lift lines and wide open trails, and weekends aren't usually that bad either. Best time for a VT ski vacation."

"Life-long Vermonter and skier here. March is my favorite month to ski. The base is deep, the sun is in the sky later in the day and the temps tend to be a little bit warmer. Stowe will have plenty of snow, as for temps and actual snowfall, that is hard to say for sure. Regardless, if you plan to ski, you will be fine!"

Annual Vermont Maple Open House Weekend

March and April, these weekends celebrate the season’s first crop by Vermont’s sugar makers opening their sugarhouse doors and inviting visitors into the experience of watching pure Vermont maple syrup be made. Treat your senses. Watch steam rising from the sugarhouse as the aroma of boiling sap invites you to enjoy sugar-on-snow and maple syrup tasting. Typically, last weekend of March and Early April.

Dogsledding at Eden Mills continues all March

Jim and his Unchained Gang continue to gain favorable press because of the wonderful way Jim develops and nurtures his dogs. These loving hearties can’t wait to run and enjoy the exercise! Jim’s March schedule provides tours three times a day: 10:00; 1:00 and 3:00 throughout March.

Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center

This wonderful venue features Opera, Dance, Theatre, Film, and Music performances throughout March. Check the calendar for future events and to purchase tickets.

Romantic Outings

March. And you thought winter was over!

Flashback. Back in March of 2014 we wrote this: Well, the early estimate was 12 – 18 inches. But Wednesday night snows of 2 inches/hour brought the total to 18-22 inches of fresh powder. Temperatures Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be in the 20’s and 30’s. Perfect skiing conditions! Perfect Nordic conditions! Perfect snowshoeing conditions! (You need snowshoes in this snow!)

Stone Hill Inn. Perfect for winter sports.

What Our Guests are Saying

Stowe, Vermont, continues to receive accolades such as “#1 Best Winter Town in New England”  and is listed as “Prettiest Mountain Town in New England,” as well as being named one of the “World’s 10 Best Ski Towns for Foodies!” We couldn’t agree more. Check out what our guests have to say.

Not your everyday B&B. More like a Swiss Chalet with exceptional hosts. Quiet retreat for tired legs after a long day enjoying the beauty of Vermont. The rooms were well appointed and the king bed was exceptionally comfortable. The fresh baked cookies were a real treat. The bathroom was very spacious and the Jacuzzi tub was just what we needed after a long day on the slopes. We will be back for sure.TripAdvisor guest

Have been going annually to the Stone Hill Now for 8 years and love it every time. Exceptional staff, very helpful with every detail, rooms are gorgeous. Love the in wall fireplace between the room/bathroom. Close to the mountain for skiing or the town for delicious meals and shopping. We feel like we are visiting old friends each year and love it every time.TripAdvisor guest
